Be'er Sheva garage electrification
The project's description
Be'er Sheva garage electrification The transition to electric trains is at its peak and as part of the electrification of the tracks there is a need to convert railway garages to handle electric train systems. The Beer Sheva garage is one of the largest garages in Israel and was originally built to handle diesel train sets, the introduction of new electric sets requires the garage to be converted to electric. For the feasibility of a complex project of this type, Topaz made sure to train a special team (electricity department) through further training and courses abroad and even cooperated with professional foreign companies in this field, the English company NAVITAS and ANDROMEDA for the benefit of the planning.
Project details
Planning the electrical system in the garage in general: -MOCR upper transmission system -LCP control systems -Electrical grounding Special engineering solutions were provided with minimal damage to the existing constructive structure and while complying with the strictest standards for safety distances EN50112. In addition to the planning of the electrification facility, Topaz, together with Israel Railways and the English partners, are working on preparing a first-of-its-kind operation and safety program based on the extensive knowledge of the partners and experience gained over the years from tours of garages abroad and learning from similar projects carried out around the world. The programs should provide a perfect answer to the customer in all that is related to the operation of the electric garages in Israel and to maintaining the safety of the employees in the garage.

Summary of the project
Following the transition to electric trains and rail electrification, there was a demand to upgrade the railway garages to handle the electric trains. The Beer Sheva garage, which is built for diesel trains, is required to be adapted to handle electrical systems. Topaz rose to the task, trained a team, and collaborated with international companies such as NAVITAS and ANDROMEDA for planning. Advanced technical matters were resolved while maintaining the existing structure and international standards. An advanced operation and safety program was created in partnership with Israel Railways and international partners, based on extensive knowledge from global projects, to provide a comprehensive solution for the operation and safety needs of the electric garages in Israel.
